Today United is announcing two changes to the checked bag policy. Below is details on the new policies For US domestic market only, and military personnel traveling on orders is exception.
- A new $15 service fee, each way, to check a single bag for domestic travel.
- Applies to customers who purchase an Economy class ticket on or after June 13, 2008 for domestic travel on or after August 18, 2008 (similar to our second bag fee policy).
- Does not apply to customers who are flying in United First or United Business or who have premier status with United or Star Alliance.
- Details on United’s new checked bag policy will be available at www.united.com/baggage.
- A revision to our fees for oversized, overweight and excess baggage more than two checked bags. Fees that were $100 will increase to $125 and fees that were $200 will increase to $250. The revised fees for oversized, overweight and excess baggage applies to all customers, regardless of status or fare paid.
