Kobe is a romantic city offering a variety of unique things for you to do and see.
Situated between the Rokko Mountains and the Pacific Ocean, completely rebuilt
from biggest natural distruction of the 20th century, the 1995
Hanshin Earthquake. This tragedy caused massive distruction and took thousands
of lives in only minutes of time. The community and major business companies
worked together to make a tremendous recovery. Only until this Kobe was just known as the International city
port. For decades Japan was isolated from the world but soon after the isolation was removed in the Meiji
period, many Americans and Europeans settled in this area and quickly
introduced the foreign culture by bringing western food, clothes and
entertainment. People say that Kobe is the
birthplace of jazz and movies in Japan. In those days any thing new or foreign
originated from here. Kobe was the largest gateway port in Japan. You find a very westernized atmosphere in the
city surrounded by beautiful natural landscape. You can enjoy outdoor activities in the nearby
Rokko Mountain area with great hiking courses and nature oriented activities. You canft miss the Ten-Million
$$ panorama night view from the summit acessible by cable car. On the other
side of the mountain is Arima Onsen (hot spring) a the perfect get away spot
for a relaxing day or overnight stay. The people of Kobe are focusing highly on keeping the city beautiful and unique in order
to attract not only Japanese visitors but also many foreign visitors.
